The track supplied to Shontelle
In her Blues & Soul interview with Pete Lewis, Shontelle recalled meeting Hinds’s manager through the network around Sonya Mullins. He supplied tracks for her to write to while Hinds was preparing an album.
Shontelle said she selected a beat from the CD and finished her song in about fifteen minutes. A later studio call told her Hinds wanted to record it. The interview calls the song “Roll It”; this account concerns the song she wrote for Hinds, not proof that all recordings using that shorter title are the same master.

How Hinds describes its role onstage
Asked by Black Enterprise which songs remained exciting to perform, Hinds identified “Roll It Gal” as an anthem for female empowerment. She described messages from women about its encouraging effect and said she did not tire of performing it.
That is the performer’s account of the song’s reception. It does not establish a measured audience effect or an objective popularity ranking.
