Béroard’s account of the name “zouk”
In her 2019 Pan African Music interview, Jocelyne Béroard says audiences were already calling Kassav’s music “zouk” when the group made the song to affirm that name. She explains that the word had previously referred to a dance gathering.
Her account places the title in a dialogue with listeners. It does not establish that this recording invented the word or was the first music ever described as zouk.
Choose the radio or club remix by its full title
Apple Music labels two entries as Bob Sinclar remixes: a Radio Version and a Club Version. Both song pages name Sinclar as remixer. The same single package also contains a title without a remix suffix and a separately named DJ Naughty J & The Grind remix.
Those labels provide useful version distinctions without requiring a guess about the sound. The composer fields on the captured Yélélé and Bob Sinclar entries list Evariste Décimus, George Decimus and Jacob Desvarieux. The source’s distinct names are retained rather than merged.

The Yélélé album page displays January 1, 1984, while the linked song header displays January 1, 1981. The club-remix song header displays June 23, 2014, whereas its single package displays July 17, 2014. These discrepancies are preserved; the table reports package dates only.
A matching song title across a compilation, album and remix release does not establish a shared master. Use the named version and linked edition to choose the intended recording.
