Behind the music
Machel Montano is a Trinidad and Tobago soca performer whose career began in childhood. His official biography dates his professional start to 1982 and identifies Pranasonic Express as the band he formed at nine. Too Young To Soca followed in 1985; an appearance on the American television programme Star Search came in April 1986. Later releases connect his solo career with collaborations across the Caribbean. Soca Kingdom pairs him with Super Blue, while Famalay brings together Montano, Skinny Fabulous and Bunji Garlin. His official account records Road March wins for those songs in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The same biography documents an entry into calypso competition with Soul of Calypso in 2024. Like Ah Boss and Fast Wine are listening entry points below; the expanding catalog keeps songs, versions and release editions separate.
