Behind the music

The story so far.

Shal Marshall’s route into soca recording followed years in Trinidad and Tobago radio and involvement with the Juggler sound system. In a 2019 Gleaner interview, he recalled first travelling to Jamaica to perform soca in 2010 and described his enjoyment of performing at carnivals. The interview places Splinters alongside songs such as Motivation, Famous and Dip in his repertoire. Splinters and Dip also appear on the fifteen-track iShal album edition selected in this catalog. Their individual credits distinguish the work behind the songs: Splinters names Fryktion Muzik as producer, while Dip names Fox Productions. Those are credits for the selected recordings, rather than a claim that one team produced his entire catalog. The wider inventory follows his singles, shared riddim releases and compilation appearances, preserving each edition’s own track order and listed date.
