Swappi

The story so far.

Swappi is Trinidadian soca performer Marvin Davis. His song Party Start, with Ultimate Rejects, connects his recording career to both vocal competition and steelband performance. He won the Groovy category at the 2019 International Soca Monarch with Party Start, including a tribute to Mighty Shadow in his stage presentation. That same Carnival season, Phase2 Pan Groove selected the song for an arrangement by Len “Boogsie” Sharpe. Musician David Boothman’s firsthand panyard account credits Davis as the song’s writer and describes the band rehearsing Sharpe’s arrangement. That steelband performance remains distinct from the commercial recording. The selected Party Start single names Swappi and Ultimate Rejects, while Bucket provides another listening point and separately credits Marvin Davis for lyrics. The catalog keeps Bucket’s instrumental and compilation appearances individually identified.
